Where Your Donation Goes: How Every Dollar Helps a Dog at BDDC

When you donate to a rescue organization, it's natural to wonder: where does that money actually go? At Big Dogs Don't Cry, we believe in full transparency. Every dollar donated goes directly toward the care of the animals in our program. Here is exactly what your donation means for a dog in need.

What Your Donation Covers

$25 — Heartworm Test & Basic Health Screening

Every dog that enters our rescue receives a full health screening, including a heartworm test. This foundational step tells us what that dog needs to thrive and ensures they are healthy before entering a foster home.

$50 — Vaccinations for One Dog

Core vaccinations including rabies, distemper, and bordetella protect not just the dog in our care, but every person and pet they come in contact with. Your $50 keeps a dog protected and adoptable.

$100 — One Month of Foster Supplies

Food, treats, leashes, crates, bedding — fostering a dog comes with real costs. Your $100 covers a full month of supplies so our foster families can focus entirely on giving their dog love, not worrying about expenses.

$250 — Spay or Neuter Surgery

Every dog adopted through BDDC is spayed or neutered before going home. This is one of our biggest recurring costs and one of the most impactful. A dog who is altered is healthier, calmer, and more likely to stay in their forever home.

$500 — Emergency Veterinary Care

Some dogs arrive with injuries, infections, or conditions that require immediate care. Your donation of $500 can fund an emergency vet visit, bloodwork, medications, or minor procedures that literally save a dog's life.

Other Ways to Give

Not ready to give cash? We also accept donations through our Amazon Wish List, where you can purchase specific supplies we need and have them shipped directly to our rescue. Every bag of food, every leash, and every crate makes a direct difference. You can find our wish list linked on our website.

Every Dollar Stays Local

Big Dogs Don't Cry is a small, grassroots rescue operating entirely in Northwest Indiana. We do not have a large staff or a facility. Every cent donated goes directly into the care of animals currently in our foster network. When you give to BDDC, you are not funding overhead — you are funding a dog's second chance at life.
